#1 Sally Fallon Morell

Food Capitalism 101

In this first episode of Reinventing the Supermarket we welcome author and nutrition educator and activist Sally Fallon Morell. Along with the legendary researcher Dr Mary Enig, Sally is the author of what many consider to be one of the foundational classics of the real food movement, Nourishing Traditions. In this discussion we focus on what was happening in America and England in the late 1800s and the first half of the 20th century as the groundwork was being laid for the damaged nutritional guidance and food supply system we see manifested globally in supermarkets today.

Sally Fallon Morell is founding president of The Weston A. Price Foundation, a non-profit nutrition education foundation with over five hundred local chapters worldwide helping consumers find local grass-based animal products. She is also the founder of A Campaign for Real Milk, which has as its goal universal access to clean raw milk from pasture-fed animals.  She is the author of the best-selling cookbook Nourishing Traditions (with Mary G. Enig, PhD) and also of The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care (with Thomas S. Cowan, MD) and Nourishing Broth (with Kaayla T. Daniel, PhD, CCN).
